Suggest a Nominee for the Soak It Up Award, 2023-- Water-friendly Landscaping Project to Reduce Stormwater Runoff

6/12/23 to 7/06/23 | All Day

The Soak it Up Award, by the La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group, recognizes a group or person in the community who has created a water-friendly landscaping project that reduces stormwater runoff. The group works together to educate residents and small business owners about runoff and how to reduce it. The website calls on citizen participation in protecting our waterways.

Please nominate any person or group who has completed a project that alters the landscape to absorb stormwater, reduce runoff, and naturally filter out pollutants. Examples include hard surface reduction; permeable pavement; excavation and grading of soil to direct and infiltrate water; construction of berms, swales, dry creek beds, rain gardens, rock breaks or bio-filter infiltration basins; underground water storage and infiltration; rain collection systems; and native plantings that absorb water and reduce runoff.

The winner of the prize gains, per the website, "Pride. Recognition. The opportunity to inspire others."  If you know someone who has planted a rain garden, put in a berm, or created a biofilter to capture and soak up water from downspouts, roofs, streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and driveways before it can move pollutants to streams.
